Call to Order-The Region 9 quarterly HSTP meeting was called to
order at 11:07 a.m. by Chairperson, Sherry Hicks, at the Gillespie Civic
Center.
Introductions-All those in attendance introduced themselves and
announced their agency.
Approval of June 2022
meeting minutes-Motion by Sara Hodge,
second by Wendy Settles. Minutes
approved with no additions or corrections.
Regional Plan-Terri Finn provided the Committee with the finalized
Regional Plan. There was discussion
about the Gaps and Needs\Strategies portion of the Plan.
How can we meet our goals?
Service: Providers do & will continue to survey riders
and implement some other strategies to retain drivers and maintain quality
customer service with riders.
Coordination: Some
committee members feel that it would be beneficial to advocate for sharable
software. This would take funding from
FTA\IDOT.
All agencies should work together
for scheduling and coordination of services\trips.
RTAC is planning for
trainings in the future.
Outreach: Transit providers will work on getting service
information out to the public and maintain working relationships with local
medical providers for better scheduling of patient trips.
Terri asked that everyone
keep in mind that the Regional Plan is a working document that we can share and
update when needs and goals are met as all information and updates will be
shared with IDOT.
Transportation concerns-
Staffing needs, everyone
continues to struggle with staff shortages.
All agencies are struggling
with older vehicles and parts shortages.
Members discussed catalytic
converter theft, it was suggested to paint converters with fluorescent paints and
add vin number stamp for identification and acknowledgement by any buyers that
they are stolen.
Centers for Independent
Living stated that their consumers are experiencing transportation issues,
mostly in the more rural areas but it is happening throughout their areas.
