The quarterly HSTP Region 10 meeting, held
at Opportunities for Access, was called to order at 11:03am, by President, Bill
Jung. Introductions were done by all
attending.
The meeting minutes, from February, 2014
were reviewed and will be emailed to each committee member.
Committee members had been asked to
review the latest updates to the Regional Plan.
Mark Auten of Trade Industries, made the
motion to approve the Regional Plan, and Dennis
Shiley of CIPT, made the 2nd,
to approve the plan. All committee
members approved the Region 10 Plan.
Next on the agenda were the presentations
of CVP application requests. There were
only two that needed the Committee’s approval.
First, was Arnold Herman with Lawrence-Crawford Association. The agency is applying for 3 medium duty
vehicles to replace a 2000 raised roof that is in need of many repairs and has low
mileage but is felt to be a safety hazard.
The other vehicles needing replaced are two (15) passenger vans, with
high mileage and older bench seats. All
vehicles are used for the CILA home, trips to and from workshop and work sites,
recreational activities and medical trips for the residents. Lawrence Crawford does have a letter of
support from RIDES MTD but it only endorses 1 of the 3 medium duties being
requested.
Next to present their CVP application,
was Mark Auten with TRADE Industries.
TRADE is requesting to replace 1 minivan with a new, accessible minivan. The van needing replaced is a 1996 conversion
van, with over 128,000 miles. This van
does not have a wheelchair lift, which is now a necessity for their new CILA
home and the disabled residents that live there. A new van would be used for client workshop
trips, work site trips, shopping, medical trips and recreational
activities. TRADE does have letters of
support.
Even though public transportation
providers do not have to be endorsed by HSTP Committee’s, Terri Finn asked that
the public providers give a brief description of their CVP application requests. Bill Jung with Rides MTD explained that they
are applying for 12 replacement vehicles and that all 12 needing replaced
exceed the mileage criteria.
Dennis Shiley with CIPT & ECPT
explained that Effingham County is applying for 2 medium duty vehicles. He explained to the Committee that Effingham
County does not have their own vehicles and this request would replace 2 medium
duties that are currently being used from CEFS\ CIPT’s fleet. These are well over the mileage criteria.
Terri Finn, reminded everyone that May,
is National Transportation Month. Please
continue to
“get the word out” regarding public
transportation services.
Terri Finn reminded the Committee of the
new website that Mike Healy, CVP Section Chief, has developed to keep everyone
updated on anything CVP, including vehicle deliveries. The site is cvpupdates.wordpress.com. Updates to the website are made when new
information is available.
Gidget Simpson informed the Committee
that CILA Corp. got new vehicles two weeks ago and Mark Auten stated that TRADE
will pick up a 14 passenger vehicle on May 22nd.
Terri Finn told the Committee, that
Regions 9, 10 & 11 now have a Facebook page that can be accessed and Committee
members were asked to send pictures of their new vans, and vans being accessed
and utilized to Terri for posting.
The next quarterly meeting will be held
on July 15th in Harrisburg, at the RIDES MTD office.
Committee President, Bill Jung, asked if
there was a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Arnold Herman made the motion to adjourn and 2nd by Phil
Toops. The Region 10 HSTP Committee
meeting was adjourned at 11:56am.
Approved by Committee on 7\15\14
