2011 IDOT Fall Conference
Another exciting IDOT Fall Conference was attended on September 22 and 23 in Champaign, Illinois!!!
Day one began with a warm welcome from Don Gerard, Mayor of Champaign, followed by HSTP training session. Over a delightful lunch, Keynote speaker Dr. T.C. Kao –visiting professor from U of I- gave an awarded winning presentation on high speed rail and encouraged our dreams of implantation in the States. The general sessions were Q and A style with Norm Stoner- FHWA, Charles Ingersoll-IDOT, David Werner-FTA.
The afternoon was a choice option to attend one of three guided tours that included:
●Champaign-Urbana MTD
●Illinois Center for Transportation
●Boneyard Creek Project
Day two opened with a Nation Prospective view with presentations from Erika Young from NARC and Jennifer Walsh from NADO and their projections for finance and funding now and in the near future. There were then 2 concurrent break-out sessions that included:
●HUD Grants Updates
●Rural Medical Transportation Network and Utilization of Social Media for Community Outreach
