1. Service Improvement –
addressing hiring needs, every agency is dealing with staff shortage. Dave
Patton discussed employment website ideas. Statewide job postings and hiring
signs on buses

3. Coordination among agencies
is toughest need, discussion held on RIDES caller center, flex riding VIA and
microtransit discussion. Both work in urban areas, how would these work in
rural communities. Both will be discussed at IPTA conference
David Shaffer from IDOT was in attendance to give an update
and answer questions
He reported that 90% of DOAP agreements were sent out for
signatures. IDOT is finishing up 5311 applications and then will start the
review process. 5310 people will start using IDOT’s Black Cat system. He
also addressed IDOT’s staff shortages
Questions regarding disposition form. He said to send all
disposition requests and information to Jeff Waxman and to also include Zoe
Keller in the email. If agencies had outstanding request, resubmit to Jeff and
Zoe.
Agencies should be still using the F-1 disposition form, Zoe
maintains a tracking log for vehicles.
CVP update – Zoe is working n bid process, and going thru
submitted applications.
Dave Patton discussed RTAC’s TAPTCO driver training that is
available for agencies to use. Fall maintenance seminar will be October 11th.
Dave will be sending out more information on the seminar
Transportation concerns
Ken Sharkey Director of St. Clair County Transit District
told the group about a legal challenge they had received from a group. The
group is challenging the legality of their bus donations program. SCCTD
attorney is reviewing and they will submit a formal response.
General discussion
Illinois Public Transportation Association Fall conference
dates September 13-15 in O’Fallon.
