The quarterly HSTP Region 10 meeting was held
on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
The meeting began with Betty Cox, Committee Vice-President,
calling the meeting to order at 11:04 am.
Introductions of committee members were done.
The Region 10 meeting minutes were reviewed. The second page of the minutes was not
available so Terri Finn will email the committee that page for final review.
5310 CVP Applications:
Terri Finn provided the endorsement\comment forms to the
Committee and reminded everyone this was a non-voting process and comments
should be written down on each form and then returned to her at the end of the
meeting.
CVP applications were presented by the following:
·
CEFS\CIPT\ECPT-Susan
Love explained that the agency is requesting 4 vehicles for expansion service
in Shelby & Effingham counties and 3 vehicles need replaced.
·
CTF-Heather
Baker provided information about the agencies request for 1 medium duty
replacement vehicle.
·
Rides
MTD-No one from Rides was in attendance so Terri Finn went over the agencies
request for 14 super medium duty & 14 medium duty vehicles for replacement.
General Discussion:
Shanna Clark brought up an issue that is
occurring with senior citizens in her area are having their rides denied due to
the new managed care and health care plans that Illinois has designated. Terri Finn stated how Region 9 has also
stated they are having medical rides being denied and that if people are
enrolled in a plan that does not meet their needs (transportation or otherwise)
they have until July 1st to change their plan.
Many of the committee expressed how they are
facing the same issues, many riders are getting denied for medical rides, or
having a difficult time enrolling in the new health care plans.
Terri Finn suggested to the committee, to keep
all denial letters and send them to local legislators to advocate on behalf of
clients not getting coverage that they need.
New Business:
Terri Finn asked the committee for suggestions
for future meeting topics or guest speakers.
Some asked for CEFS to present on all of the services they provide. Terri Finn mentioned that Regions 9 & 11
had asked her to try to get someone from IDOT to attend a meeting. Committee members agreed that would be
good. Terri will contact Mike Healy and
ask for his help. If he is agreeable, a
meeting with the 3 southern regions would be set up. All attending should be prepared to bring any
difficulties, issues or questions to be addressed.
Susan Love suggested speakers from different
transportation programs.
Betty Cox also suggested resources on how to
get the public to understand that buses are for everyone, not just for seniors
and the disabled. Nathan Nichols said
they do take different avenues of trying to address public awareness that CIPT
is for anyone needing a ride. Nathan
said they have tried many different things to get the “word out”.
The next quarterly meeting will be held on
July 17th, hosted by David Armbrust\Marion Co. Horizon Center. The exact location will be on the forthcoming
meeting notice.
A motion was made by Susan Love to adjourn the
meeting at 11:43. Beth Beck-Marts
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
THANK YOU CIPT FOR THE
WONDERFUL LUNCH!
