The quarterly HSTP meeting was called to order at 11:05A.M. by Chairperson Peggy Dunn at the Il. Valley Senior Center in Jerseyville. Peggy called for all present to introduce themselves.

The minutes from the May 2019 meeting were reviewed.  Lacey Miller made a motion to approve the minutes.  Becky Schulz seconded the motion. Minutes approved.

Guest Speakers: Randy Barrow, Sara Nollman-Hodge, Vicki Clift and Dave Patton

The speaking group discussed South Central Transit’s bus roadeo and the statewide Rural Transit Assistance Center’s annual roadeo in Sangamon county.

SCT staff went thru their process in preparing for the roadeo; setting up the course, pre-trip testing, written tests, wheelchair securement testing, and judging. They reported that drivers were beginning to get burnt out on the yearly process so they changed it up by making roadeo day a transit trivia event and that has gone over well but they will probably go back to the hands on roadeo next year.

Dave Patton shared pictures and video from the RTAC Roadeo and explained their process.  The winner from the RTAC roadeo gets to move on to the national championship that the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) has at the annual conference.

Regional Plan:

Terri Finn gave everyone handouts of the regional plan & the duplication of services graph that is included in the plan.  All members were asked to go thru each part of the Gaps section and to be prepared to discuss at the next meeting. There was a short discussion about trip denials…”why are there so many denials”, “how can we use denial information to better serve customers and do a better job of coordinating service”.  RTAC offered assistance in provider denial information.

Terri told the group IDOT is interested in how all providers\committee members are working to meeting the transit needs in our communities, this plan is an important tool to explain how we meet the needs of customers.

Also discussed

  1. Service Coordination
  2. Insufficient amount of vehicles
